Dancing the Race for Life
8th June 2015A group of Dance teachers and students from The Folkestone Academy will be taking part in this year’s Folkestone Race For Life for Cancer Research on Sunday 14th June. Instead of the usual way to run, jog or walk the 5K track, the group, which consists of five teachers and seven students, will be dancing their way round and raising money for the cancer charity. Tag Day and Cake Sale Raises Money for Earthquake Victims
4th May 2015Students and staff from the Folkestone Academy and Glassworks Sixth Form Centre have raised £1757.93 for Nepalese earthquake victims after organising a non-uniform day and cake sale. Read More
Primary School Records Charity Album
30th April 2015A Music Technology student from the Glassworks Sixth Form Centre has recently helped a Primary School choir record a charity album. Over fifty children from All Souls’ Primary in Cheriton visited the Glassworks’ music studio and worked with student, Christopher Walker, to record six songs to form an album that will be sold to parents and carers to raise money for their school. Student Wins Regional Heat of ARTiculation Prize
27th February 2015Eleana Davey, student at the Glassworks Sixth Form Centre, has won the South East of England Regional Heats of the prestigious ARTiculation Prize competition. At only sixteen years old Eleana competed with candidates from five other schools, four of which were independent schools. Read More
High Street Bargains at Charity Fashion Show
25th February 2015The Folkestone Academy will be hosting a Travelling Trends Fashion Show organised by the Folkestone division of Soroptimists International Great Britain & Ireland and Lumley House, part of The Folkestone Academy. The charity event will take place on Wednesday 4th March 6-8pm in the theatre at the Academy and will be raising money for the Folkestone Rainbow Centre. Read More
