Ten Years of Primary Schools Maths Challenge

For a decade Folkestone Academy has been hosting their annual Primary Schools Maths Challenge.  This year’s tenth competition welcomed ten primary schools from across Folkestone and Hythe. The all-day event included a variety of Maths activities including a speed test, logic puzzle, code breaking, number crosswords and a relay quiz to finish.

Seabrook CofE Primary School took the 2019 title, with St Martin’s CofE Primary School placed second and The Churchill School coming third. Other schools to take part included: Folkestone Academy, Hythe Bay CofE Primary, Morehall Primary School, St Eanswythe's CofE Primary, St Mary’s CofE Primary Academy, Stelling Minnis CofE Primary School and Selsted CofE Primary School.

The event was organised by Mrs Sarah Hutt, Maths Teachers at the Academy.  Mrs Hutt comments: “This is always a highlight in my calendar. The students enjoyed a fun filled day and I was impressed with the focus and engagement of all those involved.”

Mr Wesley Carroll, who presented to the winning trophy to Seabrook pupils comments: "It was wonderful to have so many primary school children in the Academy and to see such a range of activities, with so many pupils clearly enjoying themselves. Well done to Seabrook CofE, St Martins and the Church School. For those primary schools that fell short this time don't worry, there is always next year! Well done to all involved."

All pupils went away with a goody bag and certificate.
