Students Perform in Biggest Mass Movement Dance Show

On Saturday 24th March fifty students from Folkestone Academy took to the biggest stage of their life at the London Olympic Stadium as of a Pro Excel dance event.  Students learnt three dance routines and performed them alongside 1,700 other students in the biggest mass movement dance since the London Olympic Ceremony back in 2012. They were also lucky enough to perform with Britain’s Got Talent winner Tokio Myers who performed Bloodstream live for the students at the Stadium.

Pro Excel has been producing mass movement dance productions for the last 16 years. The students undertook 4 intensive rehearsals to learn the exact choreography for the final performance.  On the day, students were given their very own performance T-Shirt, took part in rehearsals and covered themselves in glitter to stand out to the many viewers; the dance could be seen on BT Sport and Channel 5.

As the students performed the rugby players warmed up on the pitch, the game to follow was Saracens vs Harlequins. Pro Excel worked with Head of Dance Patricia Cullen to make the event possible for the students, she comments: “I teamed up with Pro Excel a year and a half ago and in that time shared the exciting event with our students; Year 8 through to Year 11 students signed up to take part. On the day, the students had the most amazing performance experience in a famous stadium, with a pop star and 1,700 other students who had travelled from all over the country to come together to entertain the crowd. I am so very proud of all the students that took part in the event and I am thankful that they will be able to treasure this memory; a fantastic and unique day”.

After the performance the students ended the day with celebrations and having their photo taken with the European Cup. If any other schools would be interested in future opportunities to perform with Pro Excel, you can email –
