Book Week Explores Stories From Other Cultures

The Folkestone Primary Academy celebrated their annual Book Week last week exploring stories from other cultures. A week long schedule was planned to include Indian Storytelling dance workshops, storytelling by professional storytellers, a production of ‘The Little Princess’ by M & M Productions, reading afternoons and a ‘Where Have You Been Caught Reading?’ competition for pupils to capture where they like to read.  The week ended with pupils dressing up as a character from their favourite books and sang a song from a foreign country during the Book Week celebration assembly.

Mrs Jo Arnold, Year 2 teacher, organised the schedule of activities planned for Book Week.  She comments: “Our pupils love Book Week, they enthusiastically join in the activities which are specifically designed to develop their Literacy skills in an entertaining and engaging way. They especially enjoy dressing up at the end of the week, this year we’ve had so many amazing costumes!
